Frequently Asked Questions
Can cracked stucco be repaired, or does the whole wall need redoing?
Most cracking is repairable. A full re-stucco only becomes the better option when the coat has separated from the substrate across a large area, or when patching would leave the wall looking like a quilt. We sound the wall before quoting so you get the real answer rather than the bigger job.
Will a stucco repair be visible?
A patch is only as good as the texture match. Sand float, dash and knockdown finishes each behave differently under the trowel, and matching one by hand is what makes a repair disappear. On a sun-faded wall an exact colour match is harder, and we will tell you upfront if coating the elevation afterward gives the better result.
What time of year can stucco work be done in Winnipeg?
Cementitious stucco needs above-freezing temperatures to cure properly, so the season runs roughly spring through fall. We quote year-round and book the work into that window.
How do I know if the problem is the stucco or the wall behind it?
Tap it. Stucco that is still bonded sounds solid. A hollow or drummy sound means the coat has let go of the substrate underneath, and skimming a fresh coat over that just buys a year. Checking it is the first thing we do on any quote.
